Taking care of the skin

Yes, I know there's not much to see,
but recently I have suffered from things like
little rash or packs of pimples
that I don't usually have.
Im also worried cause my skin doesn't
have it's natural glow anymore as much as it used to.
Of course I realize this has much to do with the diet
and the anemia but also with skin care.

Hi lovelies!

Sorry it's been a while since I last wrote anything! Life has been awfully busy even though I should be on a sick leave due burn out. And that's actually the reason for this post!

For I have been very stressed out for so long that my body has over the last year  been through a lot! I have had burn out, depression, anemia. You name it! I must say it has been tough and even today I am very tired and I had to change my diet due my body just can't cope with lots of things anymore, for example wheats but also loads of other veggies too. And of course this has affected my skin a lot! I have always had quite a good skin, even as a teenager  but nowadays I'm not happy about it condition. So I figured out I should do something about it.

I do take reasonable good care of my skin; I wash my face every morning and night, I take my make-up off every night before going to bed, I try to drink lots of water, use creams and cleansers.  But nothing seems to work to get it to the shape it was before!
So few weeks back I started out with series called Infinite. The series include hydrating cleaner, serum, night cream and collagen tablets for all day skin care.

The Infinite series

Collagen tablets
Hydrating night dream

I must admit I usually use super market brands for my skin care so at first these seemed to be quite much but I'm open minded and want to give these a chance! After a few days of everyday use it became clear to me that these indeed are a bit too heavy for my skin in everyday use so I decided to start using the products every other day to give my skin time to breath.

Hydrating cleanser

For the feeling I have now that I have just started. Well, I must admit that the packaging is nice design, not quite like luxury brands and the smell also is more like pharmacists products than luxurious skin care but I guess it works better too? At least I hope the money that's out of the branding and smell and those details goes into product testing, so I have quite high hopes!
Overall, I don't know yet if these are the thing for me but let's see! I will report back how the treatment affects on my skin and if I spot any changes for better!

The Vintage Figure

Hello lovelies! It's been a while! I've had quite a long sick leave and havent had energy to do most of the things but now when the spring is finally kicking in I feel more like myself again and thought Id share few ideas I had in my mind.

Haven't been able to move and do as much as I'd like during my sick leave I've gained few pounds. Not that much but still and felt like I'd finally should enter the world of fabulous shapewear to get the confidence back. To speak the truth I havent felt so good about myself lately and gaining some weight didnt really help but now when Im back on the trails to my usual life I wanted to get my confidece too on the tracks.

Going for the world of shapewear I went to my old faithful, What Katie Did lingerie and shapewear. They have a fabulous collection of retro lingerie and glamour shapewear to make you feel fab no matter the size! They have a good collection from longline girdles to panty girls and waspies and waist cinchers. For some longline girdles which give you more support may be the answer but I dont really feel like myself while wearing them so decided to try a panty girdle first. From their recent sale I purchased the Gwendoline panty girdle which is a fabulous garment under tighter dresses and pants. It supports your curves, flattens your tummy and gives great waistline. But somehow I felt that I needed something more for everyday use. Panty girdles are fab for special events but what about your everyday pin-up outfits?

Right in Bizarre girdle and bra, left in Gwendoline panty girdle and bra

I decided to go for their new Bizarre girdle, worn in the products pictures by amazingly curvy Sam Elson (@blossomandbuttercups). The girdle look AH-mazing on their site and even though it's a bit more expensive one, 75 pounds, I decided I needed it in my life. I was overwhelmed when it arrived but slightly disapointed when I put it on. The smallest size available, UK 10, was way too big for my waist and I had to have it taken in, but after my seamstress worked her magic on in, it sits perfectly and gives the support on all the right places. For someone that waist-hip ratio is more than 13 inches it's really had to find suitable shape wear in girdle form, especially if the girdle in mind has a bit more structure and isn't just a basic elastics (which can be really good for everyday use, you take my word! Check out WKD's Dixie control girdle for example!).

Even though I have thought about starting gym training and waist training with a steel boned corset again I havent been able to do it just yet so I thought I'd start with something more soft that would be easier to handle right now. So I went for What Katie Did's Waspie Glamour Nouveau and for now I think I have found my solution.

I dont really mind having more bum than usually but having a tummy doesnt fit to my self image and this waspie makes sure my curves keep on their right places and that little tummy keeps out of my way until I can get rid of it for good. Waspie Glamour Nouveau is soft but due it's elastic powermesh it keeps the curves on track but doesn't need as much thought as a fully boned corset would.
Though I am determined to get to waist training this spring but for now, the waspie it is! Perfect hourglass figure and curves without difficult feeling. I buy that.

Here's few pics from my recent shoot with Sari Susanna to show of my new ultimate confidence foundation lingerie! Comfy and sassy in the same package!

Hope you have enjoyed my little thoughts about shapewear and my fave products!

Vintage Market at Kustom Kulture Show 2017

Hat fom High Hat Couture (Etsy)
Earrings and bangles by Splendette
40's vintage suit is from VintagEija's

This weekend has been all about vintage! It's time again for Kustom Kulture Show here at Helsinki, Kaapelitehdas. Kustom Kulture is all about vintage cars, drags and rockabilly lifestyle. But this Sunday the event also had vintage market and for the vintage lover I am, I of course had to be there! Actually I was working there, for VintagEija's (www.vintageijas.com) which also is one of my favorite vintage stores here in Finland!

So we were there with beautiful burlesque dancer Veda DeCadenza looking pretty and helping out with customers! I always do enjoy spending my day at vintage stores and it doesn't really matter if I'd have to work or not. I do like helping people with their purchases in a field I know pretty well. While working it's also easy to sneak out if there's anything I'd fancy! And of course there was!

With beautiful Veda DeCadenza
You may already know about my extensive interest in vintage hats. Eija had earlier told me she had a yellow wide brim late 40's hat in her personal collection which she hadn't ever worn so she brought it to me, who has a addiction to cart wheel and wide brim hats! Oh and I love yellow. For years I couldn't stand the color and now (since last summer) it seems I cant get enough of it!

My new purse lover
I also found a perfectly matching pair of yellow gloves and 1950's golden box purse with lucite handle. I do love these unpractical vintage purses! They do scream "GLAMOUR" out louder than anything else! I just recently started my lucite and box purse collection but hope to find many more of them for reasonable prices which isn't always easy. This individual has a beautiful crisscross of gold and white with gold glitter, golden metal frame and lucite hande which also has golden glitter in it! Isn't she a beauty?!
And she's in such a good condition as well!

Last weekend I was modeling for VintagEija's at Ladybug rockabilly weekender and got this beautiful navy blue 1940's suit Im wearing this my new treasures I got today.

Late 1940's suits are my favorite thing to wear; they have nipped waist, amazing structure, bold shoulder and a bit of that military spirit. This one has such an amazing structure and it reminds me of a Lilli Ann suit, even though it certainly is not. Will share few details of this suit with you later! And even though Finns don't usually match blue with yellow (might be because of out dear neighbors at Sweden, and Finnish competition spirit especially on sports...)  but I do really love with outfit. Gold purse and accessories from Splendette bring it to another level of glamour, I do think. I will share photos and stories of out fabulous Vintage Fashion Show at LadyBug later on but now Im off to bed. Sleep tight folks!

Here with yellow hat & gloves
as well as golden Splendette jewelry
& vintage purse

Did someone say "sassy"?

Day at Revival Retro

Rowena welcoming us to Revival Retro
Hi there! It's been a long time since I last had time to write anything, sorry to that! A lot has happened and I have so many amazing stories to tell! One of the most amazing of my latest adventures was a Revival Retro blogger's meet up and photoshoot!

One lovely day I got a private message on Instagram. I knew Revival Retro's lovely London Boutique manager Sarah followed me on Instagram but didn't think it would get any further than nice comments and positive vibes. Oh how wrong I was! The owner of this lovely boutique, Rowena, message me one day saying she's got something fabulous in her mind in case I was interested in collaborating with them. And of course I was interested!

Many emails and calls later I find myself on St. Pancras international train station one sunny Saturday morning. Not knowing where to go I took my phone and called Rowena for further instructions. It turns out this lovely lady was baking scones (more of which later!) but she was able to tell me where to go to find my way to her shop where the shop manager Sarah would be waiting for me. I've always loved London so walking around the streets in nice autumnal weather wasn't a problem and I took my time to enjoy London, once again! To be exact this amazing, eclectic city is my favorite of them all and I was so excited to be in the town again! Of course I was super excited to meet the Revival Retro staff and see the shop also for that being the reason why I had come all the way from Finland.

You may know the feeling you have when you have been chatting with a person online but never seen them in real life and in a moment you're actually going to meet them, but have no idea what to expect! That sure was what I felt like when I found Windmill St. and saw Revival Retro's sign at the end of it. But I decided to be brave and open minded and stepped into the boutique to meet Sarah, the most lovely shop manager,  with whom we felt immediately like we had known each other for years and this was just one of those happy reunions! It was amazing, pure magic, which also could be called a true friendship.

So much love for this lady!
Another amazing "reunion" appeared when I first met Rowena! Later I told her, and Sarah of course, that I almost forgot to speak English around them, I started saying something in my mother tongue 'cause I totally forgot I'd need to put any effort to it. It felt so natural to be around these ladies. Like I was just hanging around with good friends or like I was home having pyjama party with them. In my mind I thought things couldn't get any more amazing. But oh boy, by that time I had no idea how amazingly beautiful and lovely ladies I was going to meet next day!

By Saturday night I had met lovely Sandra (Retrocat.de if you want to  check out her instagram, she's a true German beauty!) and her other half and we spent the night in a beautiful old gatekeeper's house at Oakley Square, just a corner away from Mornington Crescent tube station. This house would also be out setting for Sunday's photoshoot and afternoon tea!

First thing on Sunday morning was (of course apart to get ourselves in a photoshoot condition!) to find our way back to Revival Retro to meet all the beautiful ladies taking a part at the photoshoot. We had so much fun going through all the new autumn pieces they got a Revival Retro and we also could choose our photoshoot outfits from all the beautiful new pieces. I tell you, all the Emmy Design cardigans they have...I could have taken them all! So delicious colors; mustard, cinnamon, wine, petroleum! All so yummy!

So in love with this Emmy outfit!
Go to https://www.revival-retro.com/ to find these ah-mazing pieces!

After we choose our outfits we had a little group shoot just a corner away from Reviavl and then we were off to Camden to have our afternoon tea in a lovely Oakley Square Gatehouse! The scones Rowena had been making were on the table but not just them! The table was full of all kinds of treats and we had so much fun and everything was so delicious! After having the tea we had some time to chat with one another and one after another we had our shoot with Revival's house photographer Tory Smith! Meanwhile other girls were posing the others had fun and did their best eating all the scones!

Chatting here with amazing Miss Victory Violet and Death by Deco, Ella and Sam! Loved both of these ladies so much!

What?! We have eaten too many scones! Cannot be! Sarah! <3

Guilty as charged!

Just look at those treats!

Posing here in lovely Emmy cardigan in wine, Trashy Diva Ashley dress and Double Deco Fan Brooch and earrings! Find the whole outfit at https://www.revival-retro.com !

Just look at these ladies! <3 You can find every single piece of clothing and shoe from this picture from Revival Retro! <3 Either pay a visit to their shop at Windmill St or go to https://www.revival-retro.com ! <3

Etsy store

As it comes, with vintage, ecspesially if ordering online there's every now and then a piece which doesn't suit you or which doesn't fit. From now on I will be listing pieces like at Etsy so they wouldnt take the space in my wardrobe.

Here's a link to my shop:
https://www.etsy.com/shop/WilhelminasWardrobe

There's pieces that didnt fit, some that didn't suit fit into my style or pieces that are my first vintage pieces, I used while going to school. I used to take some old stuff from my mom's wardrobe and mix 'em up with goth style I had during upper secondary school!

Vintage Stereotypes and How to Spot Them by RetroChic.co.uk

Got featured at Retrochic.co.ko blog "Vintage Stereotypes and How to Spot Them"! It was such an honour to be a part of this blog! I was used as an example of "Period Perfect Pricilla".
Here's what they wrote about my type:
"Period Perfect Priscillla can be found loving any decade from the 20s-60s, but is most commonly a fan of the 30s to early 50s. Her wardrobe is entirely made of authentic vintage clothing from a 5 year period and with her encyclopedic knowledge she can accurately date any piece of vintage clothing with single glance.
Period Perfect Priscilla knows that in the past Women didn’t dress like pin-ups every day. She wears warm wool stockings and sensible shoes and spends her Sundays rummaging at car boot sales for authentic bargains. She has a knack for tracking down the most perfect vintage at a reasonable price, and probably knits and sews as well so her wardrobe is perfectly fitted and to die for.
Wears: Authentic vintage or really good vintage repro, every day.
Eats & Drinks: Tea, made in a tea pot and served in a cup and saucer with an unpretentious digestive biscuit.
Least Likely to: Have ASOS on her bookmarks.
Brands: Heyday! Vintage Style, House of Foxy"

Ps. Im wearing my 50's Lilli Ann suit on this picture, isn't just fabulous suit?

40's navy blue Lilli Ann

Just a quick post about today's outfit!
This was the first time I wore my new  40's navy blue Lilli Ann jacket. I purchased this fabulous late 40's light wool dress from Hoochie Mama Jane and it has little navy blue on the collar. Suddenly after that purchase I felt an urgent need to find something navy blue!

The asnwer was Ooh La La Vintage group on facebook. Found this beautiful 40's Lilli Ann jacket for only 45 euros. Of course there was some small falws but it still presents so beautifully I don't mind little flaws!

1940's is probably my favourite time period in fashion at the moment. It has something very strickt but something so flattering! I simply can't resist beautiful 40's figure! Military influences, padded shoulders, big collars and exquisite cuffs mixed up with female figure and beautiful nipped waist. What more could girl ask for?
